March 10

We are off track! I hope you are enjoying your break.

Thank you for attending parent teacher conference. It was good to set goals and plan for our last grading period of fifth grade.

Thanks to all of our parent volunteers on our field trips. I appreciate the time you spent with our class at JA City and the Springville Art Museum. Both field trips were very successful. And the buses worked!

February 18, 2009

I'm back!

Our class is in the middle of a very active time of our year. We went to the symphony yesterday. While the symphony was excellent, the bus ride was a fright! Our bus broke down at Abravenal Hall. I'll just stop there and let you use your imagination.

We go to JA City on Tuesday, February 24. We have been preparing for the experience for a month. Our students will do a great job because they have worked hard to prepare. We appreciate our parent volunteers and the great support we receive from the JA City employees.

On Thursday, February 26, we will be visiting the Springville Art Museum. It is a beautiful museum full of amazing art. Many of the pieces are from Utah artists. If we are lucky, we will catch the High School Exhibit. It is so much fun to see art created by high school students from Utah. Hopefully, our bus will cooperate!

Today is my mom's 70th birthday! My class sang a stunning rendition of the Happy Birthday song to her this morning.

December 2

We go off track on Friday, December 5, 2008.  We will not return until January 5, 2009!  I love year around school in December!  (Ask me how I like it in July.)

Our History Fair will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 2:30-3:15 pm.  We will have our exhibits on display in room #501.  We have worked hard all month on our exhibits.  We have created process papers and bibliographies as a part of our presentations.  We look forward to having guests join us so we can show off our knowledge of specific individuals in history.

Enjoy your long break and have a Happy Holiday Season!

November 12

This week we took a math test on multiplication.  Some of the students in our class will require some additional help from home in correcting their mistakes.  Every student needs to understand how to multiply.  Multiplication is a concept that needs to be mastered to be successful in math.

We continue to work on our History Fair projects.  Check out rosamondhistoryfair.blogspot.com

Our class is finishing novels written by Bill Wallace.  Each group will create a power point presentation, based on the book they read, as a final project.  The presentations will be shown to the class.  Our practice power point presentations were very well done.  We shared our work, revised, and added graphics. I am beaming with pride!

Next week is Parent Teacher Conference.  I look forward to seeing you there!

November 5

Our country has a new president-elect.

We had our very first RED day for lunch recess. The students in the class will now know how important lunch recess is to me! ;)

After I pass out missing work notes tomorrow, they will also know how important it is to me that each student takes personal responsibility for their assignments.

Our class has been working on the laptops. We have created claymation movies and power point presentations for book reports. We will continue to spend as much time on the laptops as we are able to.
